                                                  Eldorado First Baptist Church History
Originally known as the Wolf Creek United Baptist Church, First Baptist Church was organized October 30, 1850. Elder Vance became its first Pastor, and the church met in the Wolf Creek meeting house. In December 1862, a building was erected on the northeast corner of Walnut Street and was named the First Baptist Church of Eldorado.

Fire has taken it's toll on our Church 3 times, the first was in 1882. A second building was erected in 1886. The second fire consumed the Church In 1898. The Church was then erected on the present day property. It served the people with continual remodeling and additions until 1942, when the third fire struck and left the wooden structure in ashes. In 1948, the Church was rebuilt utilizing what remained of the old building.

Our present auditorium and educational facility was added and dedicated in November of 1968. In the fall of 1995 another addition was constructed for the church. It houses the pastor and the secretary offices, as well as a fellowship hall, kitchen facility and several Sunday school classrooms.

First Baptist Church is parent to two mission churches in Eldorado:
College Heights and Scott Street Baptist Churches.
